(photo taken last winter by me, balloon bought at Cargo in Portland)
As I wrap my head around the idea that I will be a Mother (!) I can't help but think of all of the new potential decorating possibilities. This probably sounds terrible-of course I think of loving the little one, watching the little one grow, watching my family interact with the little one....but sometimes all of that can be overwhelming. And those are the times when I dream about what the baby's nursery may look like.
James and I are of modest means. I hope to create many of the baby's belongings and to spend the minimum amount of money we can. That being said, I don't want to totally expect that I will become some amazing DIY queen.
Anyway, I've been looking for simple ways to spruce up a child's space and I love the idea of hanging Japanese Paper balloons around for some bright color and interesting texture.
The photo above is a beautiful example of this. It is from a long time favorite blog of mine, ledansla.
You can find some really great and pretty inexpensive paper balloons at this online shop, Ugisu.
What a gorgeous idea - paper balloons! Love it :)

I'm not sure if I already posted this, but congratulations on your pregnancy!!
Do you know the blog Aesthetic Outburst? My friend Abbey writes it and she's got an amazing talent for making/thrifting/finding awesome decor for her house and her kid's rooms. They make so many projects together as a family. I'm sure you'll find just the right balance!

I think it's a really good idea to make your own things for the baby and to buy things second hand. People spend a LOT of money these days, on babies, but I think there would be something so satisfying about being 'resourceful'.

Little t! I love it.
Congratulations--what a grand adventure. Will be following along and cheering.
Also, I've got your apricot blossoms hanging in my entryway. They make me happy every day.
And in case you're interested, the Japanese balloons are called "kami-fusen."
Congrats!

Congratulations! This is wonderful news!!!
I can't wait to see what you will create for your nursery.
Now that I started my maternity leave, I finally have some time to craft. And the good thing is that most projects are very simple and are actually fun to make.
Love the Japanese balloons :)
