I sit here on New Year's Eve thinking back on all the events of the past year and looking forward to the next. It's hard to try and think of a few words to sum up these past few months.
Life changing, I guess? That sounds dramatic...this fall everything kind of came to a head and now there's a whole new place to go, to explore.

I am sitting here in Portland, staring out the window at the rain dimpled snow and wondering what the heck I am doing posting these warm photos. What a tease! Ha...just a few months until sunshine, right?
Well this past summer was a full one and I feel like I learned a lot of lessons. I planned and hosted the Summer Social (an art+craft+food event) at my home as well as online and what was I thinking?! It was a lot of fun, a lot of work, and now I know next time to rent a venue (among many other lessons). As crazy busy as this summer was, I am already dreaming of hosting another art+craft event next year...who knows?
One thing I do know is that I really enjoy each season for what it's worth. Looking back on the past year has reinforced that idea for me. As much as I love summertime, I am thankful for the current snow.

Here are my favorite shots from this past spring. It's funny to go back and review your own work, often times I find myself loving shots that I once considered boring. Maybe I'm getting boring with age? Ha! Probably...
I am becoming so excited for this next Spring. I know it is crazy to wish for Spring when Winter has just begun but I love the anticipation of things more than anything.
After receiving some emails about ordering I've decided to go ahead and reopen my photo shop and my etsy shop. There are even some leftover sale items in my etsy shop. I'll hopefully be adding new items to both soon. Which brings me to some news...
In 2010 I will be leaving my day job at Grasshopper. I will still help out and work a shift every once in awhile but for the most part-I will be blogging, running my online shops and looking for freelance adventures. I am so very grateful to Kara for allowing me to do this with a bit of a backup plan (I'm welcome at my old job anytime) and grateful to James for having faith in me. James and I agreed that I would work while he finished school and then it would be my turn to try something new and that time is now. I look forward to delving even more into photography and creating things to share with you!
Of course there will be some changes around this blog-good ones I hope! And yes, advertisements will be returning to this blog. I hope to only have ones of businesses that I really love-like local places and indie designers and artists. If you are interested-drop me a line( my email is abbytryagain@gmail.com)-I'm shooting for the ad relaunch in February.
Anyway, I hope it'll all work out, life always does, doesn't it?

Hello there!
I hope you all had a lovely holiday.
I feel as though I haven't blogged in weeks-so much has happened over the past few days I'm not even really sure where to begin. I probably just need some time to process things before I share.
I decided that this week I will post "a year in review"-my favorite photos from the past year. The photos shown above are ones that I took in January, February and March of this year. Many of them hold great memories for me.
As I look back at these shots, I am reminded of all of the things I have accomplished this year. Sometimes those things are easy for me to forget, and it's nice to look back and remember fun trips, nice times spent with friends and quiet afternoons...

I feel strange because for the past several months I've been really busy. I've had a lot going on with work and my shop and friends and family. Yesterday I had a free day for the first time in a long time and didn't quite know what to do with myself.
Strange feeling.
But now I've got to go to work.

Last night we had the pleasure of attending a party thrown by my friend, Summer. It was, of course-a holiday party-but I really think it should've just been a celebration of her success. Summer's blog was just named #11 of the top 50 design blogs in the world. Wow. Summer, you totally deserve it! Thank you for the yummy food and festivities and gosh-those confetti systems decorations were sure cool, too.
