Because I've dubbed this week "unofficial breakfast week" I thought I'd go all out and write up a little guide to my favorite coffee shops and breakfast joints.
Here are my favorite coffee shops in no particular order:
Extracto Coffee House
2921 NE Killingsworth St
Portland, OR 97211-6811
(503) 281-1764
I'll be the first to admit, I'm partial to Extracto because it is just so darn close to my house. But it's great for lots of other reasons, too. For one, the owners roast their own beans and do a darn good job of it.
The atmosphere is laid back and the place is always fairly quiet and chill. They serve a delicious quince iced tea and always have neat art on the walls. Their pastry selection isn't large, but is sure to include fresh, lovely items.
Random Order Coffeehouse and Bakery
1800 NE Alberta StPortland, OR 97211
(503) 331-1420
At Random Order you are sure to get a delicious cup of Stumptown coffee but the best part about this cozy place is their food selection.
Here they serve the most delicious fried egg sandwiches made with Peal Bakery breads, home made seasonal pies and out of this world muffins. The atmosphere can be crowded at times, but is always bustling and warm. Come early on weekends and try their monstrous strata-you won't be disappointed.
Half & Half
923 SW Oak St, Portland
blog hereHalf & Half is a tiny little shop near Powell's books. the scene is so very "Portland" if that makes any sense. Bright colors, funny music and interesting people abound at this lovely spot. A fledgling coffee brand, Courier Coffee is delivered by bike and served fresh here. You are sure to find something yummy to eat. If you do make it down here, catch a little sunshine at an outdoor table and pop into Reading Frenzy right next door.
Stumptown Coffee (located in the Lobby of The ACE hotel)
1026 SW StarkPortland, OR 97205
Okay, Stumptown coffee is said to be some of the best in the world. Why wouldn't you want to enjoy it in the lobby of this awesome hotel? And there's a photobooth...need I say more?
I hoped you enjoyed this little guide.
I'd love to hear about any of your favorite coffee shops.
