For the month of March, I will be guest blogging over here.
I have to post the day that the photo is taken, so I will be using my digital point and shoot and/or instant film. Neither of which medium I feel comfortable in-but that's why it'll be good for me!

Well, I'm sure no one would be surprised if I wrote "I spend a lot of time blogging".
But as you all know, time is money and times are tough-money is tough, bla bla bla.
So, after much thought and many months of consideration I've come up with a plan that I hope will be beneficial to me and to many, many of you.
Here's the deal:
-to help offset blogging fees, film costs, time etc. I propose having 10 advertisements per month on my blog. Each ad will cost $25 a piece, only be available to indie business people, be exactly the same size and load randomly .
I figure this is a good way for me to pay for costs, for readers to find cool hand made items, and for you indie business people to get your stuff out there.
If you are interested, it will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Spring will be here any day now.
I walked home from work yesterday and some of the trees were blooming!

photos from my Aunt's house. There are a lot.
Diana has a special story (don't we all, though?).
My maternal grandparents were born and raised in Oklahoma.
They lived there through the depression and moved out west to California for I guess what seemed like a better life for the family they were starting.
Things didn't exactly go right, my grandfather took to dishonest ways and my grandmother often ended up alone with the kid's in a tiny rural town. During one of my grandfather's absences, Diana was born. At this time, both Diana and my Grandma Marie were ill. Marie already had several other children and under the circumstances couldn't provide for all. The story gets foggy here but long story short, Diana was adopted by a loving family and went to grow up in a home a few miles away, but what would seem like world's apart.
Fast forward to the 1960's, Mom and Dad are engaged and a photo of my Mom appears in the paper. Diana finds it, thinks it looks like her-and the Mother that raised her tells her the truth.
Diana then finds my Mom and the similarities between the two are unmistakable. The funniest ones to me are the way they speak and use their hands, how they share the same decorating tastes...just funny little things you wouldn't necessarily think are genetic but...
I love knowing more about my family. When I hear a person's "story" it's hard for me not to like them. We all have our struggles, we're all human, we all have our moments to share.
Okay, enough with the cheeseiness.
I don't tell this story very well. You should hear my Mom or Diana tell it.

I'm really missing her today.
I feel like the best gift my parents ever gave me was the gift of my siblings.
I love them all so much and am so thankful for each and every one (I have eight...)

My photo is one I took while on my recent trip to my home town. It features one of my Mom's many collections ; real eggs!
This photo is special to me because it reminds me so much of my family.

At the moment-I am a mess.
My house is a mess, and I, well, I am a mess, too.
That's okay with me, today I'll get it all picked up. I'll reorganize. I've already got the laundry going and the to-do list is made.
I've worked a lot at my "real job" the past five days and come home to a lot to do for "my fake job" (ie-blogging and internet shop) and now I am just tuckered out. I know many of you do the same-with kids thrown in the mix, too! But, I can't really complain. I am thankful to have both things in my life.
I just wanted to share with you that my life is not necessarily as pretty as the pictures. It's quite messy, actually.
James has got a plan to get me all set up and organized. I hope it works!

I am flattered by these questions, but I really have only been selling my photos since October and have a LOT to learn.
I am no professional at all. I owe any small successes to you out there, and thank you for reading and following!
I've been blogging for personal reasons almost four years and it is something that has evolved over time. I try my best to answer comments and emails from you, although I must admit that lately, I've let things slip. Sorry for that.
My best advice is to do what makes you happy-really and truely. And be yourself!
After film costs, developing, printing, and time I don't make any money at this at all, so I am probably the wrong person to ask. James does much of the techie stuff for me, so I am very lucky in that respect because I am so bad at those things.
But here are some things you may find useful:

-and this post from Alicia is totally helpful and amazing if you are looking to do wholesale/resale

(James and I have been back in Portland for two weeks, and I am still sitting on a pile of photos from our trip. Sorry if it's boring...)
These are the things we brought back:
-a tiny vintage cuckoo clock, no bigger than the palm of my hand (from Mom)
-a collection of small plastic animals (from the swap meet)
-two old mortar and pestles from the college chemistry lab (from Aunt Diana)
I have a habit of hoarding the most useless of objects. I'm trying to be better about it. I'm trying to have some rhyme or reason. I feel good about these things....whatever that means!
