Picture this.
Corn fields, a gigantic vegetable garden, a big red barn, tall grasses and boots, lots of boots.
A beautiful fall day, a farm outside of Portland, and fourteen photographers all ready to shoot.
That was my Saturday.
I share first not what I thought were my best shots, but shots of some of these women and their cameras and what I learned from them. Now, I am sorry to not include each of you-frankly, I didn't shoot all of your portraits or I would have!
Shall we begin?
I am sure you know this if you read her blog, but Alyson is an extremely talented photographer. She captures light in the most delicate of ways. She keeps it simple, soft and delicate and her photos are extremely emotional to me-I can feel them-you know? She reminds me to be a better editor.
Afton, now she is somewhat of a mystery to me. I'm not familiar with her photography, but she was shooting with a holga and I am so interested to see what comes from it. I love a good holga shot and I am sure she got one. Her shooting makes me motivated to get out my own holga.
Whitney seems like one of those people who really "takes life by the horns". She seemed to have a never ending supply of film, ideas, and vigor. I think the lesson I got from her is that I need to take more chances with my shots.
Amy is one of those people who is truly filled with joy. She is so open and kind and I think it comes through in her photos. She was saying that she never leaves her house without her camera. I really need to do that, too.
Annie's extreme attention to detail boggles my mind. The girl will do everything she needs to get a good shot. I tend to just notice something and shoot, and hope for the best-but this girl is a master of composition. Plus she is funny and very sweet. That can't hurt...
Cori's shots are perfect little cubes of color and wonder. I find myself often going back to her shots to study just what is is I like about them, and to be honest it is usually everything. Her last name is Kindred, which is completely perfect for her. She and I were raised in very similar ways and her beautiful personality speaks to me through her photos.
She is a gracious, good natured gal whose happy energy seemed to be contagious. Debbie was very open and inquisitive and seemed to love the little details in life. And aren't those just the most important ones?
Leslie had an unmistakable grace both behind and in front of the camera. Her style was impeccable and she made a great model. Her ease and calmness was obvious and I think comes through in her photo stream. I am so curious to see her shots!
Nicolle has a tendency to shoot a lot of nature shots. Sometimes I am easily bored by your typical "nature" shots but she's got such a knack for them. She makes them come alive, her colors, her composition they often pop and I am constantly finding myself wowed by her shots. And...she shoot with this awesome contraption-how is that not cool?
Thank you so much ladies for an incredible day.
I hope I am not boring all of you with the details...
