Growing up we used to go to an old fashioned diner called "Mearle's". They had ginormous ice cream sundaes, the best shakes in town and it was the place to be. Mearle's is long gone, but I always dream of finding old timey places to hang around in-preferably ones that serve ice cream.
Well, next time I find myself anywhere near Philly, I am heading straight for the Franklin Fountain. It's a beautifully restored building and a fully functional ice cream parlor soda fountain.
I mean come on-look at how cute their uniforms are!
Be sure to spend some time on their website-so much good stuff over there.
wow those are great photos love the vibe of the place, I'm definitely going to remember it for the next time I find myself in philly.

Mearles! I used to walk there from my grandma's house. Nothing was more delicious on a hot summer day. I'm still bummed that it's out of business.
And I think I need to go to Philly just to go to Franklin Fountain.
