abby try again

i'm probably forgetting something...

By now I am certain that most of you are probably sick of hearing about the market I'm planning, Little Winter.

I'm sorry...I just have this last little bit to say and it will all be over soon ;)

And I'm far too lazy to develop film lately so here's some crappy photos for you, hahha.

So next weekend is the big weekend, it's here.

This event has been in the works since January and I am so, so ready for it!

It's sort of a crazy weird bittersweet thing for me-this is like my final Hurrah in Portland, the city that I love more than any other in the world. After it's done I'll come back to Austin and settle in for some big life changes.

So, if you are anywhere near Portland, Oregon next weekend-I really hope to see you! You are officially invited to our party on Friday night and of course, the market. Please, please introduce yourself to me-I love meeting readers :)

Shash is having a super fun Book Launch Party this weekend in the Bay Area for From Orchards, Fields, and Gardens. The book is beautiful and I'm so proud to have some photos in it! I will have some of the books at my table at Little Winter, too.

Danny just posted a little mini-interview with me on his great food blog, thank you!

And............................I'm sure I'm forgetting something or someone...but that's all for now.

What October is looking like here in Austin. . . 

a healthy dose of fear

Lately I've been making preparations for the Little Winter market I'm cohosting. It's amazing how many little details go into the planning of these events. I sort of found out something funny-I kinda love all of the little details! It's really exciting to see everything come together. I feel thankful to have Chelsea and Corey on my team (oh and my sister Lindee who is totally making this whole thing a billion times easier for me).

This week I'm planning how my own table will look. I'm trying to keep it very simple and neutral in palette as my goods are quite colorful and vibrant. I'm drawing inspiration from some of the elements shown above. We shall see...

If you read a lot of blogs or like food you have most likely heard of Mast Brother's Chocolate. I'm a huge fan of their product, their shop, their aesthetic presence and overall philosophy. I know many "makers" feel the same- but I'm impressed with how much they stick to what they believe in. I keep watching this video over and over again. I am impressed with the clear vision they have. 

This quote keeps coming back to me:

"Any idea that makes us nervous or scared that it won't happen, we know we're onto something"

As I move forward with my photo shop and with my blog, I take this thought with me.

This year's been full of ups and downs for me and my little family (James). But I'm excited to report that this week was full of really good things.  Meeting new people, trying new things, getting positive news and I'm feeling extremely grafteful and lucky. And I must say-thank you to you readers both old and new. It's nice to know people out there are rooting for me. And I hope you know, I'm rooting for you, too.

a little slice of life with Ashley and Aron

Happy Thursday, friends! Today is the fifth post of a new little series that I hope to have somewhat regularly here on the blog: a little slice of life. I try to share the good little bits about everyday life here on my blog-and there are so many of you out there all over the world who do the same. I thought it would be nice to celebrate that. I'm happy to introduce Ashley and Aron as my fifth guests in this series. The two make up the team behind the beautiful blog, Hither and Thither. Last Sunday: Pancakes and eggs benedict at a favorite brunch spot. People-watching and window-shopping in SoHo. Getting my hair cut. Looking for the first signs of fall. Playing with a borrowed vintage cameras. Pretend-house-hunting in the West Village. Recalling history on the Highline. Walking for miles. Baking apple crisp. Eating said apple crisp with sparkling wine instead of a proper dinner.
