I spent the sunny morning at a local nursery, on a little adventure with friends.
I had few expectations for the day-after all we were going to be visiting a nursery in February in Oregon-not a whole lot would be going on. Well, that's what I figured anyway, and boy was I wrong.
Not only was the nursery full of plants, trees, bushes and the beginning of flowers-it was full of all kinds of architectural and visual delights. The owner/creator/artist in residence of Bosky Dell, Lory, has turned the place into a literal wonderland.
The green houses have vintage doors, pretty bird cages, perfectly weathered pots and hand made shelves of reclaimed wood. Tiny seedling are placed among mossy old growth trees on the property. The checkout is housed inside a cute little trailer that is full of art and pretty things.
Cori and I were lucky enough to make friends with Lory who happily showed us around her insanely gorgeous house and other little buildings on the property. It was like walking inside the pages of an Anthropologie catalog.I was seriously in awe of the tour and didn't shoot half of the photos I would have liked to because I really couldn't process all that beauty.
The best was her own little work shed which she had covered with gorgeous architectural salvage and filled with all sorts of treasures. Inside were antlers she got from her father, antique desks and files, some of her paintings and so much more.
A gorgeous little stream, Field's Creek, runs through the property and Lory is working hard to restore it. There are so many opportunities to help and I think I'm going to try to do some of that. More info on that here.
Mostly I was so inspired by this woman who had built this nursery and this gorgeous propety from the ground up! She was really so inspiring.
Sadly my photos don't capture even half of the magic I felt there today-but I will cherish those memories and I look forward to cultivating my own little bit of nature this spring.
Thanks for reading.
