Way back at the end of January, James and I visited our hometown in Central California. While at the farmer's market there, I met Kyle Reynolds, farmer and owner of KMK Organics farm. He offered us a tour of his place and how could we turn it down?
The day we visited Kyle was busy, but his super friendly co farmer and wife, Michele, showed us all around. Growing up in the Central Valley, one becomes accustomed to farms and farm culture but mostly on a huge single operation scale. I had friends whose parents were orchard owners or dairymen or tended orange groves. What Kyle and Michele are doing is awesome-just a little bit of so many things-done well!
The Reynolds grow a small crop of daikon, carrots, more types of greens than I could count, avocados, citrus, gourds, hens for eggs, herbs, a small variety of fruit and probably much more I am missing. They use organic, drought friendly methods and take a lot of pride in the work they are doing. They are also part of a local CSA-which is so great to hear!
I will be posting these photos here on flickr with better descriptions. Thanks for showing us around, Michele!
Happy Sunday!
