summer wardrobe

Noanoa

Friday brought with it the most beautiful, sunny day I have ever seen. Chugging along in heavy jeans and two layers of tunics was not smart of me-but hey, I got dressed way too early...
So now my mind is wandering, thoughts of vintage summer dresses, lacy slips and lightning bugs are filling my day dreams. The reality is more like floaty tops, old skirts and mosquitoes...but I can dream!
The lookbook from NoaNoa is killing me. The dress above I think is totally gorgeous and I imagine absolutley light and airy. I also am in love with this image:

I've already got some head scarves, but I love the black belt with that white! Gees.....

I recently stumbled upon a lovely indie designer by the name of Shaybelle. Her clothes are simple and beautiful and seem very, very wearable. I especially adore this top.

A flickr user named fieldguided has posted some amazing pages from Japanese sewing books that I am gasping over. Let me tell you, the styling of these books always blows me away, just perfect and sometimes funny but always lovely.  I really love this shot, too.

And of course I love stripes...the frenchie kind as well as the seersucker...and anything that looks like ticking. This shot blows me away.

So, here are some things I've gathered:

Detailofasummershirt

a vintage top with crocheted details

Closeslip2

a vintage esque slip from Old Navy clearance pile...

Ba&sh

a floaty ba&sh top from the sale rack of my boss' shop

Flim-cydwoqs

vintage Cydwoq shoes found a month ago for $2 at the thrift shop my sis volunteers

What is your summer wardrobe?

Wow, what a great find in the thrift shop!! Also loving shaybelle, and hoping she lists some orders soon. :)

I'm totally inspired by this post! Thank you for sharing your finds and I'm also very jealous of those shoes you found for $2! I love the rustic vintage feel they have. I'm kind of on a lookout for summery shoes that aren't flip-flops but are comfy enough to wear without socks on hot days. :)

what a gorgeous, inspiring post!!! I've lately been wearing a ton of white frocks, and I'm so inspired to add some different accessories to make them even more versatile. I'm thinking a narrow, black belt with my newly-refashion antique nightgown (not a dress!) would look lovely...

thanks for the beautiful post!!! :)

these are all wonderful finds... both real and imagined! i am searching for (may have to sew my own) the perfect loose and lightweight summer pants. it is so humid here my jeans weigh about 40 pounds. thanks for the links. a girl can dream...

That confirms it. I need a gingham dress!

Thanks for this post. I'm off to pull out all the summer clothes.

lovely inspiration here abby! (as usual). i just discovered shaybelle as well, and am loving her designs. i'm also dreaming of picking up a wikstenmade item this summer... but more realistically, i'll be whipping up a couple of new skirts, finally tackling one japanese shirt that's been sitting on my sewing table for over a week now as i continue to be confused over how to sew a henley neck, and assorted other sewing projects. i really want some new dresses, but am mostly too cheap/broke to spend the money, so i best be getting to the sewing machine!

beautiful! sounds like a lovely summer day : )

Umm.. The noa noa catalog is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. When incredible design and incredible photography are paired like that It makes me want to cry, it is so beautiful. Actually.. it makes me want to DESIGN. ;) thanks for the inspiration.

Oooh what beautiful clothes. I think I love everything from Noa Noa.

so many pretty things in this post!

I love NoaNoa too! those dresses... and I like your 'finds' , very very in theme...

Thanks for the inspiration. I love the Noa Noa and that shirt you have with the crochet details. My sister was inspired, too: http://flickr.com/photos/becktress/2585901328/
