The new Canon EOS 450D has literally just come out today - I'm dying to get my hands on it (I have 'ye olde' Canon EOS 300D).
It's got over 12 megapixels!

I'm not trying to be contrary... but I love the boots and don't really like the dress! The tape is lovely though.
As for Digital SLR I second the comment re Canon or Nikon, I have used both and find the Canon in camera software to be more user friendly but Nikon has better lenses. I wish I could afford a Nikon D200 because it is compatible with older Nikon lenses (of which I have many) but I am very happy with my Nikon D80. Good luck with your camera search!

Oh like the tape & the dress!
I really loved my Canon digital SLR... I found when I was looking at digital SLRs that everyone has their preference & you just have to go with what works for you. Although I would definitely stick with either a Canon or a Nikon since those are the 2 biggest and tend to have the best selection of lenses.

I second, fifth, eighth the Canon. I have an XTi - and while the fancy new XSi just came out, that means the XTi is going to go down in price, and it's a fantastic camera. The kit comes with a great lens.

yeah, not so into the boots. do love the dress (you could definitely pull it off and should take advantage of that) and definitely love the tape. not suggestions on the camera, but i'll check back to see what folks suggest.

hi abby,
it is funny how many people just assume you are wanting a digital slr. anyway, digital or film, i vote for nikon. i have a d70(digital) and 8008(film-old and heavy), but have heard great things about the d40. boots: not so much, dress: cute, but not great.
xo

i'm thumbs down on the boots as well...the tape & dress = thumbs up. i just saw that dress at anthro in the 'loungewear' section...i don't really think it looks pj {i think they just thew it in there since it was under $100.00 ;) }

NO to the boots. YES to the dress.

i really like the booties (though i probably wouldn't wear them). the dress is a bit fiesta for me. love the tape.
we have nikon film and digitals in our household and love that the lenses are (usually) interchangeable. nikon lenses are really the best. i say worry less about getting the latest camera body and invest in lenses instead.
here's a good review of digitals:

i just ordered a digital slr! pentax. really pricey, i could have bought a computer for that much - but (fingers crossed) worth it!

hi abby,
more suggestions :)
boots : no
dress : hmm, probably a bit too bright for me
tape : awesome
camera : nikon or canon, and then invest in some really good lenses, because those take the pictures. nikon and canons are both good. i'd rather buy a size smaller camera and a really good lens instead. and lenses only nikon or canon, too, preferrably a fixed focal length, that lets in a lot of light. a good quality lens really does make a difference.
i've always shot with a variety of canon both film and digital and have always been happy with it.

Boots: abhor.
Dress: adore.
Tape: entirely too cute to be such a mundane object!

shoes - cute but may be hard to find appropriate cloths to go with. i wouldn't wear them though because they look like you'd need slenderish, shapely calves, which i don't have.
dress- i think it is cute too. it has a peasant type of look that i like.
These are the things i think of when i buy clothes: i try to imagine where i would wear it - would i kind of fit in? does it match my personality or who i think of myself to be. is it flattering? and of course budget. when it comes to clothes i love so much and think are super cute, i don't care too much what others think, or if i look very different than others.
camera - sorry no good experience with those types of cameras.
