Good News Gardening and Cafe

Another place to eat with a gorgeous view is Good News Gardening .

I love terracotta pots and old greenhouses, and happily-this place has both.

I also love succulents, but you know this.....

Cute, handwritten sign at the cafe-I enjoyed a half sandwich and soup-what's better than that?

These flowers were all miniature! So tiny and cute they were.

I told you I love terracottta!

more Holiday

Gees-
this week has been a whirlwind!
I thought I would have some time to post more, but I've been really busy....
SO-here we go-more Hood River Holiday!

Eliot Glacier Public House

    Not actually in Hood River, but in Parkdale .  This is about two or three miles from Mount Hood and the area is really more of a small village than town. This little pub is in what used to be the movie theater.  It is a beautiful old space, still clinging on the "salt" that makes places "salty" but totally comfortable and warm. A menu is not to be seen, instead a cafeteria like calendar  lets you know what you'll be eating (see it here ).  We happened upon taco night, which we were all excited about, and at $1.50 for a build your own taco-why wouldn't you be?

Forgive the terrible photo-but I hope you can see how GORGEOUS this view was! They have a fabulous deck which I am sure is absolutely the most fun in the long days of summer-and some of the best root beer I've ever tasted.

This is one of those places that when you step inside, you are happy to be American. Yep, I went there-and I know it sounds cheesey-but I don't care. The jukebox was playing, families eating and laughing and we even had brownies and ice cream for dessert. Yup, I love this place. Like Ben pointed out, the decor on the walls is authentic, it's places like these that give the Tahoe Joe's, Outbacks, and Chilli's of the world a very bad name.

  In the wintertime I hear that there are fondue nights! I am so down!

an impromptu holiday

     After a series of ridiculous event on Sunday, Ben (brother-in-law), Lindee (sister), James (husband), and I were sitting around-trying to figure out something to do on a very rainy easter when it dawned us-drive as fast as you can to Hood River and don't look back!
    This was the perfect solution to our nothing to do dilema-lucky for us Ben and Lindee (oh-and their dog, Foster) live in a cozy home with a jaw dropping view of Mount Adams. And of course-this was the first time in many, many months that both James and I were free! As much as I absolutely adore Portland, I really do love "the country" where even a simple trip to a Dairy Queen to share some disgusting soft serve can seem fun.
   And now I present a photo journal of some of this weekend's events:

I have to work on Easter.
What's up with that?
For some reason I just don't think a toy store will be busy on Easter morning.
Okay, done with rant.
I love spring here. Everything is blooming so bright against the grey sky. It's so vibrant and smells divine.
I made chocolate granola last night-recipe from Molly.
It was pretty good-I left in the oven a little too long, but hey not bad with milk.

new beginnings

I have a new project. It's called person place thing an experiment in film. No words, just me playing around with film over there. I think it will be nice, hopefully keep me motivated to try more at the very least. I am doing something fun over here an Wednesday-so check back! Hope you are all having a good March so far!
